The
way of the Japanese bow has a long and dignified history, which
makes kyudo one of the oldest and most respected of the Japanese budo
practices and an essential part of Japanese traditional culture.
In its modern form, it is used for recreation and as a means of self
development. As it does not requiring great physical
strength, it can be practiced by young and old, and by both men and
women.
The
Essex Kyudojo is a member club of the United Kingdom Kyudo Association
with the purpose to introduce and facilitate the practice of Kyudo in
the Essex area.
As a
non-profitmaking organisation, no charge is made for tuition
but fees are required to cover the hire of practice facilites,
insurance and the running of the group.
